Star Wars hats

This year, I found a pattern for a Star Wars hat online. After making a test hat for Tom, the rest of the boys wanted one too. And then I made Tom a new one using the lessons I had learned.

Now I am the only family member without one.

Star Wars Colors

Add this to the "list of memories to share with future girlfriends when the boys are older."

I've said it before on this blog (many times).  Nate and Nile are kind of obsessed with Star Wars.

LEGO Jango Fett
LEGO Boba Fett
I haven't mentioned that the two of them were Jango Fett and Boba Fett for Halloween.

Nile was Jango Fett (yes, the father of Boba), and Nate was Boba Fett. They like the bounty hunters, the bad guys.

I have mentioned how they were playing bounty hunters and were making up "Fett" names.

I may have neglected to mention that the whole family has received Fett names.  Momma Fett, Daddy Fett, and Baby Fett. (or on occasion, Novak Fett).

But what has to take the cake, is the boys' latest obsession with naming all colors after the Fett family.

Whoever gets a blue plate or cup at the table has a "Jango" plate/cup.
If someone has a green plate or cup, they have a "Boba" cup/plate.
Of course, the rainbow isn't complete without "Orange Fett" and "Yellow Fett" and so on...

A meal hasn't officially started until each of the boys has listed off what color their dishware is.

"I have a Jango cup, a Boba bowl, and a Yellow Fett plate."
"Yeah, well I have an Orange Fett bowl, Orange Fett plate, and Jango cup."

Train 'em young.

Hawkeyes and Star Wars.

Of course! He is a member of our family, after all.

Yoda

Last night our good friends the Debaenes brought over a present for Novak's birthday.

He really enjoyed the customized tissue paper (decorated by Emma).

And inside he found a huge stuffed Yoda.

And ever since, that Yoda has been spending a lot of time with another member of our family, who just happens to be obsessed with Star Wars and "fuzzy animals" (a.k.a. stuffed animals).

Back to school

On Friday, I took Nate school shopping. On the way to the store, Nate told me that he was ready to go back to school. In fact, he told me that even if school started tomorrow, he would be ready to go back now. I love that he enjoys school so much.

While shopping, we found the perfect backpack for him. Plus, it was a steal at $9, so I don't have to worry about it wearing out, which I am sure a $9 backpack will do.

"Mango" Fett

The boys are playing with their Star Wars LEGOs.

Nate has decided that his guys are all on the same team - the "Mango" Fetts. And they all have the same face. I'm assuming they are clones of someone.

I wonder what Jango Fett would think about his brethren.

:)

Oh, and just overheard: "Not Jango, Nile! Mmmm-ango! With an M!"

Star Wars junkie

Nate has become a Star Wars junkie...and I love it!

We've been enjoying watching the movies together.  He loves to see the Death Star explode in Episode IV, but really I think he loves them all equally.

I took this video a while ago (back in mid-March), but I've been meaning to share it.  Finally I get a few minutes on the computer to get it uploaded!

(I have been trying to upload this video for two full days.  You don't know how ecstatic I am that it finally is done.  Really.)

Star Wars in Concert

On Wednesday, July 7, we, along with our friends Matt and Emma, went to Star Wars in Concert. I was a little nervous to see how the boys would do with an evening concert. But when you combined amazing music (performed so well that we would often forget that the symphony was live on stage) with movie clips on a giant HD screen (synchronized with the music), it was an event that both boys loved.

Nate's favorite? "Darth Vader"

Nile's favorite? "Everything."

Now, I can't wait to share the actual movies with them.

Before the concert we ate outside in the beer garden at the BierStube in Moline.

Here are Nate and Emma, during the intermission.

And here is Nate with one of the many displays of props and costumes from the movies.
