These two intentionally dressed alike today and requested I take their picture for the blog.
I still remember when Nate didn't want anything to do with Nile...

Gumdrops!
Novak loves Gumdrops! Gumdrops is a Friday play group we have been attending this spring. It's an hour of play, stories, songs, a craft, and a snack. He loves it all - but what he remembers afterward are the songs.
Today at Gumdrops we got to make flower pots!

Tooth-scapades
I'll give him this. When Nate puts his mind to something, he will make it happen. Tooth number 6 is out tonight.
Nate was determined. He wasn't going to bed until it was out.
Nile was in the bathroom as his cheerleader. It was cute.
At one point, Nile says, "If you just had some scissors or something..."
"Nate, try blowing. That will push it out."
For the record, I listened to this from the kitchen. I can't handle the pulling of teeth. Eww.

dreams of flight
Tonight, I rocked Novak before bed, as he was looking out the window at the back yard.
"Mommy, can I fly?"
"No, honey, you can't fly."
"Can I have wings?"
"I'm sorry, only birds have wings. People don't have wings. Wouldn't it be great if we did? Would you like to be a bird?"
"Yes."
"What color bird would you be?"
"Blue."
"Oh, I like blue. You'd be a pretty blue bird."
"Can I be red?"
"Sure, you can be red."
"Can I be a red cardinal?"
"Yes, you can be a red cardinal."

Cursive trials
Nile wrote his name in cursive today...almost. I thought it was pretty impressive...
What really makes me smile is knowing that Nate has been trying to show him how to write in cursive. :)

Bubbles, bubbles everywhere!
Yesterday was the first nice spring-like day that I had been able to enjoy at home. Yes, I still love my Fridays off...
Novak and I went to GUMDROPS, a pre-preschool play group at a local church. He (and I) had a blast. He played nicely with the other kids, loved the stories and songs, and didn't want to leave at the end. Already I'm looking forward to next week.
Later my parents came over and helped me burn our prairie. Only a few times did I think the fire might get ahead of us...Dad lost a few leg hairs and the strings hanging from my ripped jeans have disappeared. But it actually went fairly smoothly.
As we waited for the big boys to get home from school, Novak and I pulled out the bubbles and played in the driveway.
And I'm still waiting most anxiously for the arrival of my new baby nephew. He was due Thursday, and so every day that goes by is more torture for my sister. Very soon she will have a bundle of love to snuggle. I'm so excited for this baby, he is going to be so loved!

The banana...
Nate attempted to take a banana to school today for his "mid morning snack."
Obviously he hasn't done this before.
I don't know if we'll do it again.
If you ever need to know how to wash a backpack and browse bag...call me.

DIY bunk bed tent
A few months ago, Nile asked me if I could make his bunk bed into a tent. Finally today we went and bought some fabric and Velcro at the store and voila! The tent was formed. My fingers and wrists are sore from hand-sewing on the Velcro...I thought it would be easier than lugging out the sewing machine, but I might have been wrong.
The white was his choice, not mine. I wanted something in a color, like lime green or navy. Several times at the fabric store I asked him about a different color. The exchange went like this each time.
"Don't you like blue, Nile?"
"Yes. But I like white better."
So white it had to be.
He's pretty happy with it!
