100 days

Today was the hundredth day of school. Each of the first graders was asked to decorate a shirt with the 100 day theme. Of course, with Nate's frog obsession, we had to figure out a way to incorporate his love into a shirt.

I did not want to draw 100 frogs, so I suggested 100 flies, and thankfully Nate agreed excitedly.

Nate picked out a frog he liked, and I drew (traced) it on the shirt. Nate glued on all 100 buttons to create the fly bodies, and I helped with drawing the fly wings. I think it looks great!

The verdict from his classmates? In Nate's words, "The girls loved the frog and the boys loved the flies. There was something for everyone!"

A half decade

I got this email today.

Anyone else think its just wrong to remind a mom her baby is heading to KINDERGARTEN in the fall?

Not to mention that he is a half decade old...

I thought I had a few more months before having to start facing this fact. :(

The Tooth Fairy Cometh

Finally, Nate has lost his first tooth. You can barely see it in this picture, but his permanent tooth came in a few months ago behind his baby teeth. So we have been talking about this since Thanksgiving.

Nate is beyond excited. He keeps asking what the tooth fairy might bring. He suggested $20.

Checkup

Today Novak went for his 15 month checkup.

My little chunk weighs 25 pounds.

For perspective, that's at least two pounds heavier than Nate was at this age.

And he only needs to gain 9 pounds to catch Nile at 34 pounds. Nile probably weighed 25 pounds at age 3.

Novak also enjoyed his first lollipop from the doctors office. He acted like an old pro - must be from watching Nile and Papa. He even "crunched" it at the end.

peek-a-boo part 2

I love watching these two play together.

Night owl

It's 6:30 on a Friday night.

Nate could not wait to get home from dinner because we had promised him he could stay up late.

Until 8:00.

And what was he so excited to stay up late doing?

Reading.

In bed.

Alone.

This may be my favorite picture of all time.
