The Watermelon was Great!

(title by Nate)

Papa and Grandma grew watermelons this year at their house. They brought one over to share.

When we cut it open there were lots of seeds!
Novak was the first taste tester.
Novak approves!
Goofy baby...
Nate agrees with Novak's opinion!

Yoda

Last night our good friends the Debaenes brought over a present for Novak's birthday.

He really enjoyed the customized tissue paper (decorated by Emma).

And inside he found a huge stuffed Yoda.

And ever since, that Yoda has been spending a lot of time with another member of our family, who just happens to be obsessed with Star Wars and "fuzzy animals" (a.k.a. stuffed animals).

:)

Oh, how I love this child.

Healthy Family night

Last night was Healthy Family Night at Southwest School. The event was sponsored by the Southwest PTA.

I helped with the event and set up a "wellness station" called "Calories Count!"

Nate helped me a lot. First we went to the gas station and looked for the most unhealthy foods we could find. (note: the Little Debbie Cosmic Brownies...yowza). Then he helped me set up for the event.

We had a table with bowls of different foods, each containing 100 calories.

Then we had a set of folder games where kids and parents could guess how long it takes to burn 100 calories doing their favorite exercises.

Nate was an awesome assistant!

Sharing

Novak just took a bite of toast out of his mouth and tried to share it with me. Sweet, maybe. Gross, definitely. Yuck!

I want to raise a boy who is sweet and shares, to a point.

Three more days until he turns one!

Soccer time

Nate is playing soccer again this fall. He absolutely loves it! This year he is on a new team, the Rapids. Becky took some great pictures of him at his game today.

Fall is coming!

Tom took this great picture of Novak at the John Deere 5k Fall Classic. Looks like the corn is turning, and it's time for fall. I love fall, it can't come soon enough!

We had a running morning. Tom and I ran the 5k, and Nate and Nile ran the kid's 1/4 mile run. Tom took 3rd in his age group and I placed 2nd in mine. Not a bad morning!
