shoe envy
Me: "Nate, put on your shoes now."
Nate: "Mommy, I don't want to be Nile's brother!"
Me: "What?"
I turn around and Nile is trying to put his shoes on. Apparently that is enough to make Nate want to disown him.

a polite boy
When the flowers arrived, Gramma says to Nate, "Oh Nate, thank you so much for the flowers!"
Nate responds, in his quite grown up fashion, "It's my pleasure."
Sometimes I wonder where he picks up some of the things he says...he didn't get that one from us, that's for sure.

A Milestone
Today Nate decided that he was going to get dressed all by himself. I was a little worried when he disappeared upstairs and it was so quiet, but I decided to let it go as he's old enough to be left alone once in a while. Imagine my surprise when he came downstairs fully dressed, socks and all. Somehow he had gotten his shirt which was hanging in the closet, I didn't think he could reach them. Even more impressive? The shirt and pants match, in a combination I've never put on him before.
He proudly let me take his picture. To pacify Nile, who wanted to be in Nate's picture, I took his too.

dancining
Nile really loves Raffi...Becky gave him an MP3 player for Christmas and we've loaded it up with tracks from Raffi Live in Concert. Now that he's figured out how to get to his favorite songs, we're free from having to be "DJ Raffi" for him. Although this doesn't totally protect us from his love of repeat playings of "Baby Beluga," at least we are no longer continually being called to the stereo to start the song over. (Honestly, once I really did put that track on "repeat" for about a half hour...)
Tonight he was especially moved by "All I Really Need," so much so that he just had to break out into dancing. Or should I say "dancining?" Enjoy.

Tickle Monster
I half expected him to attack me, but no, he was tickling Nile. And Nile was tickling him back.
The boys may be finally learning to play together!
